Guidelines for Authors

DSC 2015 has a two-phases review process. In the first phase submitted abstracts are evaluated and selected for paper submission or poster presentation. In the second phase submitted papers are reviewed. Click on the following links for direct access to submission information:

TWO-PHASES REVIEW PROCESS

All contributions need to be submitted on-line and uploaded via our conference management system . Submissions must follow the formatting instructions of the template files provided below.

Submitted abstracts are assessed by external reviewers and/or members of the Scientific Committee. If accepted, authors are required to complete the submission with Full Paper (limited to 8 pages), Short Paper (limited to 4 pages) or Poster Abstract (limited to 2 pages).

Authors of accepted abstracts are required to submit Full Paper or Short Paper by 30 April 2015. Full and Short Papers are peer-reviewed. Final acceptance is due by 1 June 2015.

Preliminary acceptance of the abstracts does not imply final acceptance of the papers. All papers will be peer-reviewed by an international scientific committee. The scientific committee reserves the right to determine whether a submitted paper is accepted or rejected.

For organizational reasons, only a limited number of finally accepted papers can be displayed as oral presentation. However, all accepted papers (either long or short) excluded from oral presentation will be included in the conference proceedings as well, and invited for poster presentation.

Authors of finally accepted papers are required to address the reviewers’ comments in the final version of the paper (camera-ready), to be submitted by 8 July 2015.

Authors of abstracts accepted for poster presentation are also required to upload a revised and updated (camera-ready) Poster Abstract by 30 June 2015, to be included in the conference proceedings.

Papers and Poster Abstracts not meeting the formatting criteria will not be included in the conference proceedings.

At least one author of each accepted paper/poster must attend the conference and present their work in an oral or poster presentation.

A completed registration and payment is mandatory for final acceptance of the contribution and for inclusion in the conference program.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Now CLOSED!

To submit an abstract you first need to create an account on-line at https://www.conftool.com/dsc2015/. The submission form is then available under “Your submissions”.

The abstract (plain text) should not exceed 1000 words in length (excluding title and affiliations). Authors’ contact details (full address and email of all the contributing authors) and affiliations must be entered in the dedicated fields of the submission form. Figures with captions and bibliographic references can be uploaded with the abstract (title and text only) in a single .pdf file. No author information should be included in the .pdf file.

The abstract must properly address the following points:
- Introduction: background and motivation with references to similar/previous works
- Research question: description of working hypotheses for non-specialized audience
- Methodology: description of the experimental setup and procedure
- Results and discussion: when possible, findings must be supported by proper statistical tests
- Conclusions/implications: (expected) impact and value of the work for the scientific and/or industrial community.

IMPORTANT: Abstracts not meeting these requirements will not be accepted.

PAPER SUBMISSION

Now CLOSED!

If your abstract has been accepted for paper submission, please follow these step-by-step instructions to upload the paper. Formatting instructions are available on the paper templates below. The deadline to upload the paper is April 30, 2015.

NOTE: The main difference between full and short papers is in the paper length and not in the importance or impact of the contributions. Therefore, the work described in long or short papers differ in extent, but not in quality. Short papers can cover preliminary studies, prototype applications, or initial implementations. Full papers are suitable for completed scientific studies and reviews.

PAPER TEMPLATES

The following paper templates with formatting instructions and predefined (MS Word) styles are available for download:

IMPORTANT: Papers not meeting the required formatting will not be considered for review.

POSTER ABSTRACT UPLOAD

Now CLOSED!

If your abstract has been accepted for poster presentation no further review is required. However, you are invited to upload a revised and updated version (2 pages max) of the original abstract to appear in the Conference Proceedings. Formatting instructions are available on the Poster Abstract Templates below. The deadline to upload the camera-ready version is June 30, 2015. Please follow these step-by-step instructions to upload the poster abstract:
